Pride of Far East: World’s Longest MV and HV Suspension Cable Is Installed in China Zun Tower

On the afternoon of August 22, the Ceremony for the Hoisting of the World’s Longest Special 10KV HV Suspension Cable in China Zun Tower was held in Beijing. With the completion of hoisting of 820-meter 10KV HV suspension cable, Far East Cable, the subsidiary of Far East Smarter Energy Co., Ltd. (“Smarter Energy”, stock code: 600869) completed the layout of all the 10kV HV suspension cables in China Zun Tower, the tallest building in Beijing that has also realized the fully coverage of the electromechanical system. 

Wang Chuanbin, an investor, Vice Chief Supervisor of the Board of Directors of Smarter Energy, Senior Consultant and Chief Expert of Far East Cable, Ma Yueqin, an investor, Senior Director of Smarter Energy and Supervisor of cable business, and Assistant to General Manager of Far East Cable, Miao Lilong, an investor, Assistant to Director of cable business marketing and Marketing Director of Far East Cable, Zhou Feng, an investor and Assistant Director of Power Cable R&D Department, Liu Xue, an investor, Vice Engineer of Power Cable R&D Department, and Ren Hongnian, an investor and Marketing Manager attended the hoisting ceremony.

In the entire China Zun Tower project, Far East Cable provided a total of 24 HV suspension cables with a total length of 15,132 meters, weighing 136.38 tons. The length of the cable installed this time is 820 meters and weighs 8 tons, which hits the world record.

The suspension cable is a special cable. No matter how long it is, it can support its own weight by its unique self-supporting unit, solving the problem that the conductor is easily ripped by its own weight in the vertical laying of long cables. Meanwhile, Far East Cable’s HV suspension cable for China Zun Tower has low-smoke, halogen-free, flame-retardant, fire-resistant features and other safety and environmental protection characteristics. Moreover, such cables are able to guarantee the power supply requirements of the fire protection system, ensure the reliability of power supply safety of high-rise buildings, improve the power quality and save non-ferrous metals, and are more environmentally friendly and intelligent. Besides, under the premise of meeting the functional design requirements of the building, the product also has many advantages such as saving time and labor, short construction period, occupying less space and area, low overall input costs and low maintenance rate.

The cable hanging work of China Zun Tower project is demanding and difficult. To lay the cable smoothly and provide satisfactory services for the China Zun Tower project, Far East Cable has formed a professional technology R&D service team to track the whole process of cable hoisting and ensure safe and orderly laying of the hoisting cable. The professional technology R&D service team went to the engineering site immediately after the cable arrived in Beijing, so as to provide professional technical training for the engineering unit and hoisting construction team of the China Zun Tower project. In particular, when facing the problem that more than 10 cables must be continuously and safely laid in a strong current well with a width of only 450 mm, the technology R&D service team carried out the on-the-spot investigation in the building for several times, and provided professional guidance for the cable placement position, laying path, arrangement of lifting accessories, etc..

In addition, Far East’s technology R&D service team has innovative practices in slings, including the practice that the double-lifting sling with the same board is used for the first time in the world to install two cables in the Z5 area (F44-57), which makes the structure more compact, as well as the special slings designed for the special shaft structure of the building.

The HV suspension cable supplied by Far East Cable for China Zun Tower is the crystal of wisdom of Far East’s R&D team, as well as another practical use of the Far East product after the secondary innovation on the basis of its application in Shanghai World Financial Center. The price performance of cable has been further improved. In fact, as early as 2005, the laying of cables by hanging in super high-rise buildings has been patented to Far East, and a complete set of installation and laying specifications have been formed, filling the gaps in the industry and the field. On December 24, 2017, the product—Hanging-laying Cables and Slings for Super High-rise Buildings, passed the new product appraisal of the Jiangsu Economic and Information Technology Commission. Experts agreed that the comprehensive performance of the product has reached the international leading level.
